Around Pune there are many places that we want to visit and for this I search for these beautiful places. And I had decided to write this hub for help other people to search these places. Pune typically finds traffic on weekends. This traffic is bound towards numerous getaways especially the hill stations around Pune.
Lonawala and Khandala
The closest are Lonavala and Khandala, just about 40 miles from Pune on the old Pune-Mumbai highway. The place is famous for a local sweet called Chikki, I like this Chikki. There are some functional dams with large water storages; some boating activity is also permitted
Matheran
Just 85 miles from Pune is an unsullied, pollution free hill station and the most loved one by nature lovers, trekkers and honeymooners. The place is special as you will need to walk a lot here; motor vehicles are not allowed beyond a point. You will find ponies, horses and man pulled carriages if you do not intend to walk. Sharlott lake, Panorama Point, Porcupine Point and the train journey from Neral to Matheran are not to be missed when in Matheran.
Karle Caves
Karla caves is situated between Mumbai and Pune, quite near to the Bhaja Caves. They fall on the Pune-Mumbai Road and are approximately 40 km from the heart of Pune.
Bhaja is more well-preserved and the more tranquil of the two. The chaitya hall here sports timber beams and pillars housing a stupa. Puzzlingly, Cave 14 has a Hindu shrine. Even more bafflingly, Cave 19 has two sculpted panels devoted to the Vedic gods Surya and Indra. The viharas are dazzling in their minimality; they possess stone beds with small storage alcoves.
